This is a game where you have to add your word- and its meaning, to our list and we will slowly build up an individual vocabulary using these words. Mine is: Horse Buss It means: a kiss with a loud smack.

That's why most people shouldn't have writing as a career, but more as a hobby unless they've already written something that became incredibly famous so that all their other books will be bought by their adoring fans.

When you get writer's block, stop writing. It means the brains tired of you pushing it to think of ideas. Go away for as long as it takes to have a new idea. Re-read what you've written so far every couple of days. If you haven't written anything, wait for that burst of inspiration. Look for them in dreams, that's your brain showing you your subconcious thoughts. I get a lot of my stories from them.

I usually imagine what im going to write (or try and remember details from my dreams, which is where i usually get my stories from) and then describe it... but if i get stuck i ask people (or if its an essay i copy Verona, Or Nikki until she left school)

Which Skin??? « Result #30 on Feb 2, 2007, 1:47am »
So far we have three skins: Default, Red and White and the Black and Green one. I would like opinions on what you think should be our skin and if anyone has taken the time to make a sample skin that they think would be suitable for The Budding Writers. Yours, Faith xox

Ohhh, cool, your on Gaiaonline as well! Add me! I'm nikki_da But anyway, I know they say that writing is a painful process but I have the feeling that they didn't mean that literally! Maybe you should try some of the other ideas as well though, see if they work any better for you.

Writer's block is an annoying process of the brain saying, "Quit making me use more of me than what the average human uses." That is what writer's block is and will always be what it is.

Hmmm...what do I do?...I suppose mostly what I do is kinda painful since whenever I get writers block I usually inflict a mass amount of pain upon myself...such as when I slammed my fist into the wall and hit a stud which ended up breaking a few of metacarpals in my hand...immediately after that, typing one handed, I made a beautiful and fluid post that made several people on Gaiaonline want to add me to their guild. Since then I've just hit my head in the wall but maybe I should make another beautiful post by breaking my hand again...hmmmm...time to contemplate.

Now...I understand what you mean by competent, I think, but perhaps describing what a competent person for each job would be would make more people apply. It just an idea since most people are going competent? what is competent? Do I have to know something special, like how to read and write? or do I have to just be able to follow the rules like a lap dog and tattle on those who don't?

That's all very well, dear friends but there is only one answer to writers block..... CHOCOLATE.
Leave the piece of work alone for a while, get out of the house, do something else, go for a walk, visit a friend and best of all eat some chocolate!
After that, and only then will the flow start flowing, as the rowers keep on rowing, the danger must be growing for the blar blar... there you go I have writers block... I can't remember what Willie Wonker said after that.... (famous quote : ) I am going to eat some chocolate.... bye

What is Writers Block? « Result #42 on Jan 20, 2007, 3:44pm »
Writers Block is an extremely annoying factor that almost always slows- or even stops completely, the process of writing. I know that I have had it and I think that everyone here has as well. How do you describe writers block?
...the words that do not come to us easily in speech often come in our writing. This is how we share our gifts to the world and have it stand in wonder for others to gaze upon. We are writers proud, strong, and full of wonder...
